Maynard Jackson Jr. Sublime 1st Black Mayor of Atlanta

To students of Black American history who seek information on outstanding Black Americans of the 20th century there is no more outstanding figure than the Honorable Maynard Jackson Jr.
Maynard Jackson Jr. was the first Black Mayor of the great city of Atlanta.

A highly intelligent child; Maynard Jackson entered Morehouse College at the tender age of 15 and he graduated at the ripe old age of 18…astonishing!

When Maynard Jackson was the Mayor of our great city of Atlanta he transformed the
Atlanta International Airport and MARTA ( Metro Atalanta Rapid Transit Authority) he also
brought the 1996 Olympic Games to our great city.

In 2002 Maynard Jackson Jr. founded the American Voters League, a non-profit and non-partisan
ambition to increase voter participation.

The sublime, and very noble, beloved man passed away on June 23, 2003 and in his memory the
Atlanta International Airport now bears his name.

All of our children should about the wonderful legacy of this great American Hero.
